Growing up on a horse farm, Abby, garnered a passion for training and caring for animals from a young age. She continued to pursue opportunities to work with animals into adulthood including interning at a veterinary office and volunteering at the humane society.
Abby’s particular interest in professional dog training piqued when she got her first dog as an adult, Freya. From an early age Freya exhibited dominant and highly energetic behavior, so Abby immediately enrolled her in dog training classes, obedience, agility, and behavioral training, to ensure that Freya was set up for success. Since then, Abby and Freya passed the canine good citizen test, practiced agility, volunteered at Fairfax Pets on Wheels, and have helped train and socialize countless dogs with behavioral issues. Over the past six years, Abby has worked with a variety of dogs through her boarding and dog walking business. After spending 3 years shadowing other trainers and behaviorists, Abby took on her own training clients starting in 2020 and has worked on everything from puppy training to serious aggression.
Abby holds a BA in International Politics from George Mason University and an MA in International Development Studies from George Washington University. She’s spent the last 10 years managing projects in the humanitarian sector and is excited to combine her passion for helping people and her passion for animals.
Freya is Abby’s right hand assistant. Affectionate, assertive but playful, she offers puppies the opportunity to play with BOUNDARIES. She also provides an outstanding example of a balanced dog for boarding and training clients, helping the most anxious of dogs learn how to trust humans and dogs alike.
